Chant des Dunes [Dune song], 2023, three facades measuring 7 × 8 m, in situ painting, acrylic paint on building, courtesy of the artist.

Lisa Ouakil works on the analogy between pictorial material and flesh. The title Chant des Dunes refers to the history of Dunkirk, which was built on sand after the retreat of the sea. Created from photographs of Dunkirk, the three murals, conceived as a large triptych, are a musical score of organic motifs: poetic images of the industrial and military symbols that have shaped the city. Like an epic Greek song, the paintings tell the story of Dunkirk, giving pride of place to colour and its vibrancy in the public space.
In partnership with the L’Art contemporain association. Project funded by the Centre Nucléaire de Production d’Electricité de Gravelines.
