Guérit-Tout, 2023, in situ installation, marine beacons, blown glass, uranium glass, U.V. light, HD video HD, singing, courtesy of the artist.
Occupying the wasteland of the wine storehouse, Jean-François Krebs presents an installation made up of luminous beacons, inspired by floating lights – a night-time maritime guidance system – while a uranium glass installation is set up in a basin. This phosphorescent material with a strange glow, which the artist uses regularly, here takes the form of objects or body parts immersed in the water, inspired by the ex-votos of the seafarers’ families in the Notre-Dame-des-Dunes chapel in Dunkirk.
In partnership with the L’Art contemporain association. Funded by the Grand Port Maritime de Dunkerque and with the support of Phares et Balises-Dunkerque.
The work of Jean-François Krebs can be viewed on Saturdays in July and August at 3pm during a tour of the breakwater, on Sundays without prior booking from 2pm to 6pm and from Monday to Friday by prior booking on +33 3 28 29 56 00 or at art.contemporain@ville-dunkerque.fr
