Dunes magnétiques [Magnetic dunes], 2023, steel, polystyrene, cement, Jesmonite, glass, sand, magnets, courtesy of the artist.

The result of a residency by artist Io Burgard with young residents of the Mecop in Saint-Martin-Boulogne, Dunes magnétiques captures the way in which children appropriate their environment. It acts both as a memory of past games, by moulding footprints in the sand, and as an invitation to play. It’s practical, with magnets that can be manipulated to experiment with a form of perpetual energy. In partnership with the L’Art contemporain association. Project funded by ArcelorMittal. With the support of the Maisons des enfants de la Côte d’Opale in Saint-Martin-Boulogne and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation.
