Who hasn’t dreamed of flying or imagining a vessel capable of operating underwater? When science meets art, artists push back the boundaries of reality to expand the realm of the possible.

Echoing the second edition of the Art & Industrie Triennale in Dunkirk, Socx Town Hall is taking a transformative look at the theme of energy by bringing together works of art and design that propose new solutions to ecological challenges and/or attempt to write the next page.

From the flying machines of Belgian artist and inventor Panamarenko to Michael E. Smith’s upside-down kayak, from Christien Meindertsma’s flax fibre design to Emilien Leroy’s account of the end of life of an ocean liner, the exhibition explores the world of invention and the relationship between man and machine.

Visitors embark on a journey through the sometimes utopian, sometimes dystopian imaginations of artists who make the world of local industry and its machines their own.

Exhibition with works from the Frac Grand Large.
