As part of the Résonance film screenings for the Art & Industrie 2023 Triennial, the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens (MAC), in partnership with the CNAP, is screening Shohei Imamura’s film Pluie Noire as part of its Le feu, tous les feux programme.

In Pluie Noire, Shohei Imamura draws on Masuji Ibuse’s novel of the same name to recreate the day on 6 June 1945 when the city of Hiroshima was destroyed by an atomic bomb dropped by the American air force. In addition to the visions of apocalypse at the start of the film, the filmmaker focuses on the terrible effects of radiation on the population in the many years following the explosion.
