As part of the Résonance film screenings of the Art & Industrie 2023 Triennial, the Maison de la Culture d’Amiens (MCA), in partnership with the CNAP, is screening Werner Herzog’s Leçons de ténèbres as part of Le feu, tous les feux.

Werner Herzog was inspired by Couperin’s Leçons de ténèbres to film the Iraqi forces setting fire to hundreds of oil wells as they withdrew from Kuwait. A vision of apocalypse, lunar landscapes of flames and smoke, sumptuous images and music describe the horror and excess of the drama like a long poem about the end of the Earth.
