Miguel Gomes films a region of mountainous Portugal during the month of August, when the population increases tenfold and activities multiply: people return home, shoot off fireworks, control fires, sing karaoke, throw themselves off bridges, hunt wild boar, drink beer and have children, as the filmmaker puts it.
