As part of the Resonance screenings of the Art & Industry Triennial 2023, the Fresnoy Studio International is screening Werner Herzog’s film Au Coeur des Volcans as part of Turbulence.

Using the film archives of the two volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft, Werner Herzog poetically celebrates the life of two researchers and image-takers whose unique work was brutally interrupted in 1991. In turn, the filmmaker’s editing work brings to their incandescence the images of the vulcanologists taken at the risk of their lives.
