It is around black that the project is built, associating in the phrase “warmth of black” a paradox, or even a contradiction that we find interesting, between representations of so-called warm colours and the association of black, often perceived as a cold, even sepulchral colour in Western symbolism.
The warmth of black will be that of asphalt, a story of the modernity of a material derived from petroleum, whose imaginary territory Lucie Marchand revisits.
The work of the other two artists will combine black, drawing and sculpture. For Yosra Mojtahedi, the question of the body: the masculine and the feminine, where the artist blurs the usual boundaries of their representations and introduces an ambivalent plant. For Fabrice Cazenave, the work with charcoal, and even the charcoal itself, the combustion of different plants that he has experimented with, enriching the representation of this charcoal tool.
La chaleur du noir (The warmth of black) is all about black and its many variations of burning materials, their iconoclastic uses and perceptions, and the warmth of bodies in partial representations, playing with fetishes and deconstructed forms, which are also stripped of their commonly accepted colour references.
