Elise Guillaume (1996) is a Belgian artist. The body is a key element in her work – it becomes a receptacle for interpreting and embodying the living and non-living beings that make up our natural world.
For the Triennale, Elise Guillaume will be presenting her new project Anticipation Végétale (working title), co-produced by Espace Croisé and produced as part of her “Arctic Circle” residency in April 2023. With access to the world’s largest seed reserve on the Svalbard archipelago, the artist will be looking at permafrost and the psychological impact of global warming.
A series of videos and photos made between 2018 and 2023, filmed in different parts of the world – from the Atacama Desert to the Arctic Circle – will extend this reflection on our complex relationship with nature.
