Wilhelm Sasnal

Wilhelm Sasnal (Tarnow, Poland, 1972) lives and works in Krakow. After studying architecture for two years at the Tadeusz Kosciuzko University in Krakow, Wilhelm Sasnal attended courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He was part of the Ladnie Group of artists until 2000.
Wilhelm Sasnal uses various other mediums – photography, graphic novels, films, videos – and tackles everyday subjects, historical figures, views of Krakow, as well as snapshots of friends or family members. He also appropriates images found on the Internet and in mainstream media. His work is featured in collections such as the Guggenheim Museum and the MoMA in New York, as well as the Saatchi Gallery and the Tate Modern in London.
