Susan Schuppli

Susan Schuppli (Ottawa, Canada, 1959) is a lecturer and the director of the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmiths University in London. She is also a researcher and artist. She earned her PhD from Goldsmiths and participated in the Whitney Independent Study Program after completing her MFA at the University of California, San Diego. She is the recipient of the 2016 ICP Infinity Award.
In her work, Susan Schuppli examines the material evidence of war and conflicts, environmental disasters, and climate change. Her current projects focus on the study of ice and the politics of cold.
Her works and projects have been exhibited throughout Europe, Asia, Canada, and the United States. She is the author of the book “Material Witness” published by MIT Press in 2020.
