Sam Lewitt (Los Angeles, United States, 1981) lives and works in New York. After obtaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in 2004, Sam Lewitt completed the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2005. He is fascinated by the means of information transmission in industrial societies, and often sources materials for his artworks from the electronics manufacturing industry.
Sam Lewitt is represented by the Miguel Abreu Gallery in New York and Galerie Buchholz in Cologne and Berlin. His work is included in the collections of prominent institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the MUMOK in Vienna, the Centre Georges Pompidou/Musée national d’art moderne in Paris, the Fondation Aïshti in Beirut, the Pinault Collection, Fondazione Memmo in Rome, and the Fondation d’Entreprise Galeries Lafayette in Paris, among others.
