Richard Sapper (Munich, Germany, 1932 – Milan, Italy, 2015) was a German designer. His products typically showcase a blend of technical innovation, simplicity of form, purity of shapes, and an element of surprise. He received numerous international design awards, including eleven prestigious Compasso d’Oro awards and the Lucky Strike Prize from the Raymond Loewy Foundation. His creations are part of the permanent collections of many museums around the world, with over fifteen models exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), as well as at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Design Museum in London.
