Peter Fischli (born 1952 in Zurich, Switzerland) and David Weiss (1946-2012, also born in Zurich) formed a significant tandem in contemporary art since 1979. The duo used everyday objects and motifs to create constructions where the trivial intersects with the poetic. Their works span a variety of media and are heavily influenced by Dada, Surrealism, Pop art, and conceptual art. Fischli & Weiss delight in disregarding the traditional distinctions between legitimate and popular art.
Their collaborative works have found their place in numerous public collections worldwide, attesting to the importance and impact of their artistic practice on the contemporary art scene.
