Otobong Nkanga

Otobong Nkanga (Kano, Nigeria, 1974) lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. She began her art studies at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and continued at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She also obtained a degree in performance art from DasArts in Amsterdam. Using various artistic mediums such as drawings, installations, photographs, sculptures, tapestries, poems, and performances, Otobong Nkanga explores the social and topographical relationship with our environment.
Her work has been presented in numerous institutions, including the Centre Georges Pompidou/Musée national d’art moderne (Paris), Tate Modern (London), Kunst-Werke (Berlin), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), and the Sharjah Biennial (Sharjah). Her works are also part of the collections of many museums and institutions.
