Michel Dave
1941-2018,
Michel Dave (Jumet, Belgium, 1941 – Ellignies-Sainte-Anne, Belgium, 2018) was a draftsman.
As a major figure in art brut, his work is present in public collections including the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne, the MAdmusée in Liège, and the Museum Dr. Guislain in Ghent.
Michel Dave drew with acrylic markers on paper. His work was characterized by repetitive and codified patterns, combining a variety of words and colored signs. As a witness to our daily lives, Michel Dave carefully weighed each word inscribed on the paper, which was then enclosed in a bubble or surrounded by an infinity of dots.
