Lois Weinberger (Stams, Austria, 1947 – Vienna, Austria, 2020) lived in Austria. He worked with various mediums such as drawings, photographs, texts, films, and installations. His artistic practice focused on a poético-political network that drew attention to marginal areas and questioned various hierarchies.
Weinberger, who saw himself as a field worker, embarked on ethno-poetic works in the 1970s, which formed the foundation for his decades-long artistic investigations into natural and man-made spaces.
In 2009, Weinberger was invited to the Austrian Pavilion for the Venice Biennale. In 2017, he was invited to Athens and Cassel for documenta 14. His work continues to be recognized for its unique and thoughtful exploration of the relationships between nature and culture.
