The New Life is a site-specific work consisting of a galvanised steel shutter, a timber-framed wall and a digital print on paper. The movements of the shutter are determined by a live data stream, following the fluctuations of a raw material on the world markets: carbon. As a result, the shutter only moves during the working week. At weekends, on public holidays and outside the opening hours of the financial markets, it remains static and appears to be at rest.
