Hassan Sharif (Bandar Lengeh, Iran, 1951 – Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 2016) studied in the 1980s in London at the Byam Shaw School of Art. Later, he settled in the Emirates. His work consists of monumental pieces as well as graphic works. He has been presented in group exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery in London and the New Museum in New York, among others. He was exhibited twice in the United Arab Emirates pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2009 and 2015. His works are part of major public collections such as the Guggenheim New York, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Centre Georges Pompidou/Musée national d’art moderne, Tate Modern, and Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha.
