Silke Huysmans (Brazil, 1989) & Hannes Dereere (Belgium, 1990) live and work in Brussels.
Silke Huysmans studied theater at the KASK School of Arts (Ghent), and Hannes Dereere studied theater sciences at Ghent University. As a duo, they explore the use of journalistic and documentary elements within theater performances. Their work is based on in-depth field research, which they use to shape their projects. Since 2016, they have been working on a trilogy involving extensive research on mining exploitation. The first part of the trilogy, “Mining Stories,” was selected for the Circuit X/Het Theater Festival 2017 (Belgium) and received the first prize at Zürcher Theaterspektakel 2018 (Switzerland).
