Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass (Innsbruck, Austria, 1917 – Milan, Italy, 2007) was an Italian architect and designer. He obtained his degree in 1939 from the Polytechnic University of Turin. In 1979, he founded the Memphis group and the Société Associati.
His approach and commitment were part of a reflection he led at the heart of the Italian avant-garde of the 1960s, extending to the Nuovo Design of the 1980s, where a new generation of designers claimed his spiritual heritage.
Ettore Sottsass received numerous awards, including the Compasso d’Oro.
