Dominique Ghesquière
1953, Paris, France
Dominique Ghesquière (Pensacola, United States of America, 1953) is a French sculptor. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon (2001) and was a resident at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam in 2003.
The idea of nature and the presence of humans within it constitute a territory of exploration for the artist. The ephemeral landscapes she composes summon ecosystems by intertwining elements borrowed from the natural world with meticulously crafted objects. Between still life and diorama, her constructed landscapes contrast the immediacy of evocation with the slow execution, the meticulousness of the produced objects, and the precision of the spacing of the elements.
